We attended the Feria de las lenguas y las culturas in Jerez de la Frontera. We were able to listen to presentors and see what other schools do in their bilingual programs. We also had our own booth to share what we do at Princípe Felipe.
We did a variety of Easter activities with the 5 year old class and first grade students. Each student in both classes helped paint a giantEaster Egg that says, "Happy Easter 2011" and is hanging in the entryway of the school. The first grade students learned some basic vocabulary (Easter basket, Easter egg, Easter Bunny, bow, chick, Easter egg hunt, and happy Easter) and then colored and assembled a paper Easter basket filled with eggs, a chick, and a bunny. After the craft, they went outside and participated in an Easter egg hunt. Fifteen paper Easter eggs had been colored, laminated, and then hid outside on the patio. The five years olds are learning about the importance of having a healthy lifestyle. They've classified food into healthy and unhealthy groups. They've learnt about keeping the body and mouth clean and they have also read the famous story titled: 'The very hungry caterpillar' by Eric Carle.

Pancake Day lined up perfectly with the end of our Science Unit on Food. We were also able to use the opportunity for parent involvement. One of the mothers made all of the pancakes for the students after she was given the materials.
